Physical Therapy for Outdoors Athletes
Is pain impacting your ability to hit the slopes, send your climbing projects, or achieve your mileage goals? Outdoors sports such as skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, bouldering, hiking, backpacking, and trail running can be incredibly demanding on the body and pushes one’s body and mind to the extreme. Having a physical therapist with extensive experience in the mountains and who is intimately knowledgeable about the demands of mountain sports is a crucial component to getting back to high level performance, pain-free. The Doctors at The PATH specialize in helping outdoors athletes return to the slopes, trails, and crag without pain.
How do we help outdoors athletes return to pain-free training?
-
Calming It Down
This is where we work to reduce your pain ASAP. Your doctor of physical therapy will take you through a thorough, sport-specific exam on day 1 in order to determine the root cause of your pain and outline an individualized plan to resolve it, all while keeping you on the slopes, trails, and routes instead of telling you to stay inside.
-
Building It Up
Once your pain is under control, your doctor will develop an individualized movement plan to help you resolve any strength, mobility, and movement issues that may have contributed to your pain. This is where we guide you in building back to your prior mileage, grades, and training intensities with your sport.
-
Making It Last
This is where we help you plan for the future so that your pain does not return out in the mountains or daily life. Here, we provide you with tools for maintenance, training recommendations, and semi-regular check-ins to set you up for pain-free longevity in the mountains.
